  • OOB Audience Survey
    The Innovative Theatre Foundation is conducting the fourth part of our OOB research project. This study focuses on OOB Audiences. If you are an OOB Audience member, please take the survey today.   • Theatre World v67
    For the last 67 years, Theatre World has been documenting Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and has become the leading archivist of information for American Theatre. (There is more information about Theatre World at the end of this email.) In 2009 they began to include Off-Off-Broadway. Find out more...

  • NEA releases study on the value of the arts The National Endowment for the Arts has released a new report titled "Time and Money: Using Federal Data to Measure the Value of Performing Arts Activities," which measures the value of the arts in three ways: time spent on arts activities; organizational revenue and expenses; and direct consumer spending.   • Brooklyn Townhall Meeting: Property Tax Relief for All NYC Non-Profit Performing Art Organizations
    On May 9, 2011 The Innovative Theatre Foundation and The League of Independent Theatre co-hosted a Brooklyn Town Hall to discuss the progress of the tax relief proposal. Read more about it.

  • OOB Townhall Meeting
    On Monday, March 21, 2011, ICSCS – The Institute for Culture in the Service of Community Sustainability – hosted a townhall meeting that presented an update on the Tax Abatement proposal and several other proposals including 1% for Culture.

  • The Soho Think Tank Finds a New Home
    For those of us who have been following the intrepid struggles of the Soho Think Tank - losing their home on Wooster Street, then finding camaraderie and a temporary space at 3LD - will be happy to hear that they have a new home of their own. They will now be taking over the Wings Theatre in the Archive Building. Read more in this New York Times article.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • NY State Budget Due
    In a message sent out on 3/18 Governor Cuomo says that he has submitted the state budget, but will be meeting with leaders of the Democrat and Republican parties to modify and finalize it over the next few weeks. There is still time to write to the Governor and express your opinions. With a 10% cut to NYSCA (more than to any other state agency) we need to let our government officials know how important arts are to us. You can post your thoughts to the , or even better, as Will Maitland Weiss suggests send a letter. Check here to find your legislators.
